What we're looking for

We need someone with strong organisational skills to support the Special Events team. 

As an office volunteer, you'll be helping to make a difference to children's lives by taking care of administrative duties and daily tasks that go hand-in-hand with fundraising events and activities– making sure they run as smoothly as possible.

What you'll do

The NSPCC Special Events Team delivers fundraising events across London including Childline's Merry Little Christmas, the White Hat Ball, City Fine Wine and Great Chefs Dinner.  

The Special Events Volunteer will support the team with prize sourcing, research, thanking supporters, adding supporter details to database system, general events office duties and support on-site at events if availability suits. 

Full training will be given but we are looking for someone who is confident on the phone, has good email manner and willing to learn, with a passion for events management and fundraising. You will also need excellent attention to detail, organisational, administrative and IT skills. 

What you'll get

You will be joining a busy team and we're looking for someone who is able to hit the ground running, but you won't be left alone. We will provide full training for the role and make sure you are supported every step of the way in your time volunteering with us.

Lunch and travel expenses within London will be reimbursed as per NSPCC policy. 

Who's right for the role?

While we think this role is suitable for a whole range of people, we are particularly looking for those with the following qualities and experience.

  • Excellent administrative skills and attention to detail 
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft software including Word, Excel and Outlook 
  • Impressive communication skills – our volunteers communicate with a great variety of individuals and groups in person, over the phone and in writing 
  • Passion for our cause of keeping children safe across the UK 
  • Proficient at using the internet for research 
  • Ability to work unsupervised 
  • Energy and enthusiasm – a ‘can do' attitude 
  • Willingness to learn about event processes and interest in Special Events
