About the Board 

The Yorkshire Business Board (hereafter referred to as the "Board") has been established to support the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) through strategic and effective fundraising initiatives. Bringing together a dynamic group of professionals from diverse industries, the Board combines their skills, experiences, and networks to make a tangible impact. The Board is committed to organizing three key annual events: one for Childhood Day, one for Christmas, and a third event selected by the Board members. These events will raise £10,000 each year, with every penny raised directly supporting the vital work of the NSPCC. 

In addition to these events, the Board will focus on raising awareness and fostering long-term partnerships with local businesses to sustain fundraising efforts and inspire lasting change. Through their collective passion and expertise, the Board aims to provide essential support to children in need across the region, ensuring the NSPCC can continue its crucial work. 

 

About the Role 

The Yorkshire Business Board Marketing Lead plays a pivotal role in shaping the public image and promoting the mission of the organization and business board initiatives. This position is responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies that drive awareness, engagement, and financial support for the Yorkshire Business Board initiatives.

Key Relationships – Internal and External  

  • Reports to the Yorkshire Business Board Chair (Jenny Murphy) 
  • Direct NSPCC contact with the regional Community Fundraising Manager (Abi Baker)  
  • Active working relationship with all Business Board members 

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities  

  • Marketing Strategy Development: 
    • Create and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy that aligns with the board's fundraising goals and mission. 
    • Define target audiences and tailor marketing approaches to reach and resonate with them. 
    • Monitor engagement and adjust strategies to optimize results. 
  • Content Creation: 
    • Generate compelling and persuasive content for various marketing channels, including social media and emails 
    • Collaborate with team members and volunteers to gather stories, photos, and testimonials that highlight the board's and the charity's impact. 
  • Digital Marketing: 
    • Oversee the management of the board's digital presence, including social media platforms, and email marketing campaigns. 
  • Public Relations: 
    • Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, bloggers, and influencers to secure coverage and endorsements for fundraising initiatives. 
    • Prepare and distribute press releases  

 

Time Commitment:

We are looking for a Marketing Lead to commit to serving a one-year term, renewable based on performance and mutual agreement.

This is a volunteer position, and the time commitment may vary but is generally a few hours of work per week.  

 

Personal Skills and Experience  

  • Have a professional background (sales/fundraising desirable)  
  • Experience marketing strategy development 
  • Experience in content creation 
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills 
  • Wide network of contacts to tap into and explore  
  • Experience in event planning, ideally charitable (desirable) 
  • Action-orientated 
  • A commitment to ending cruelty to children
