Every childhood is worth fighting for. This is our belief. It drives us, and it's the reason our Services team push themselves to transform the lives of children and families.

We are developing an exciting and innovative approach to meet the needs of children, young people, families and professionals across the East of England by taking a capacity building approach to increase our reach.

We want children to live free from the risk and impact of sexual abuse and will work across the system with partners to build awareness, knowledge and capacity to help reach this aim.

You will have the opportunity to work with partners and communities to build awareness of how to prevent, identify and respond to Child Sexual Abuse. You will support in delivering evidence-based therapeutic services and in the East Practitioners may have the opportunity to support the development of a preventative offer responding to Problematic Sexual Behaviour.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a new team in developing and building our work in the East of England. The successful candidate will work in a hybrid team, working from home or co-working spaces, supporting the delivery and development of services. In the first instance we will be taking a place-based approach by working in the Luton, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire area, however successful candidates will be expected to travel throughout the region when necessary.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Enthusiastic,
  • Flexible and passionate about creating change, working with and making a difference for children and their families.
  • They will have the ability to plan and deliver appropriate services and to support and work alongside partners.
  • Knowledge and experience of working with Child Sexual Abuse is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.

Whilst working within the challenging environment of safeguarding children you will be supported by your colleagues, managers and the wider NSPCC organisation. You will also get an opportunity to work alongside other professionals in the NSPCC to widen your knowledge and skills as well as the opportunity to be involved in our work in schools and campaigning across the East of England. In addition, you will have the opportunity to work with colleagues in other agencies, both statutory and voluntary. Full induction training is provided, and we are committed to ongoing professional development, enabling practitioners to achieve their full potential.

Join us and you'll become part of a team that cares about the work we do and the people we work with. You will discover opportunities to grow, along with challenges and a shared purpose that will bring the best out in you. You will get to find your own way to make a difference that means more, and that impacts young lives.

We offer a full range of family friendly policies and benefits to help achieve a good work-life balance. We support flexible working.  Our people are at the heart of everything we do. It's because of them that we're able to continue our work to protect children and prevent abuse. We work hard to ensure that that they feel happy and supported in their role.

The NSPCC is committed to equality and diversity and wants to attract a range of talented people. The NSPCC fully supports the rights and opportunities of all staff to seek, obtain and hold employment and to enjoy equal employment opportunities without discrimination.

We have 4 Children's Services Practitioner (Level3) posts available.  All applicants must hold a social work qualification to be considered for this position. Please read supporting documents about the role.

We actively encourage candidates to get in touch for further discussion about the role. Please contact either Team Manager Kate Regan, Kate.Regan@nspcc.org.uk or Assistant Director Andrew Skea, Andrew.Skea@nspcc.org.uk to arrange a telephone conversation

Working in the Services team The application process

Safer Recruitment

As an organisation, we are committed to creating and fostering a culture that promotes safeguarding and the welfare of all children and adults at risk. Our safer recruitment practices support this by ensuring that there is a consistent and thorough process of obtaining, collating, analysing and evaluating information from and about candidates to ensure that all persons appointed are suitable to work with our children and adults.

Trauma Informed

At the NSPCC we are on a journey to becoming a trauma-informed organisation for the children, young people and families that we work with, as well as our staff and volunteers. To be trauma-informed is one of the guiding principles that shape and guide our 2021-2031 Strategy. This means understanding the nature of adversity, trauma, and resilience so that we can work towards reducing and preventing further harm and promoting recovery and healing. Coming to work at the NSPCC will provide the opportunity for you to join us in our commitment to becoming a trauma-informed organisation.
