Lighthouse Children and young person's Advocate

Every childhood is worth fighting for. This is our belief. It drives us. And it’s the reason our Children’s Services team push themselves to transform the lives of children and families – in person, in service centres nationwide, and through the knowledge they share. Join us as a Children and Young person's Advocate and make a contribution that means everything.

The Lighthouse is a multi-disciplinary innovative service providing child centred advocacy, criminal justice, health and therapeutic services to children and young people following the disclosure of sexual abuse.

The initial pilot will run until March 2022 but our commissioners are currently negotiating longer term funding.

Advocacy is delivered by one team made up of NSPCC and Solace Women’s Aid practitioners who are available to help children and young people understand the range of professionals they are able to access within the project, helping them to voice their wishes and access support as and when they feel ready. This may involve preparation for health assessments, therapeutic interventions and/or supporting them through criminal justice processes.

We are looking for;

Excellent skills and experience in direct work with children and young people and a clear understanding of sexual and domestic violence, trauma and the long-term mental health effects of sexual violence, especially on children.

We are very interested in hearing from trained and accredited Independent Sexual Violence Advisors (ISVA) but this training will be made available should the successful candidate not already have the qualification.

Join us and you’ll become part of a team that cares about the work they do and the people they work with. You’ll discover opportunities to grow, along with challenges and a shared purpose that’ll bring the best out in you. And you’ll get to find your own way to make a difference that means more, and that impacts millions of young lives.

For an informal discussion please email margaret.galloway@nhs.net or marian.moore@nspcc.org.uk

Interviews will be held on 06/10/2021
