The NSPCC's charitable purpose is to prevent cruelty to children. Our 10 year strategy is focused on achieving three impacts:

  1. Everyone can play a part in keeping children safe
  2. The online world for children should be as safe as the offline world
  3. All children should be able to speak out and adults know what to do when they express a worry or concern

We will achieve this be embracing seven declared principles: focus on prevention; listening to young people; building on our strengths; working in partnership; being trauma informed; embedding equality diversity and inclusion in all we do; and inspiring many more people to get involved. The CEO and our Executive Board are charged with delivering this strategy in a powerful and relevant way.

What is the key purpose of this role?

The primary purpose of this role is to support the  Chief Executive across the full range of their leadership responsibilities.

There might be the need, on occasion, to assist with the Chair's diary as well, if asked.

This is a highly visible role, right at the centre of what the NSPCC is seeking to achieve. It's a fascinating opportunity to be exposed to the full range of our work, to learn about leadership and to contribute directly to our work at a very exciting time in the charity's history. Here, put a focus on what kind of impact this role will make, and how it'll help to change children's lives.

Who will be my key internal relationships?

You will work closely alongside the CEO, Executive board and Executive board support.

You will build and maintains working relationships with the Society and Deputy Society Secretaries, other executive assistants, administrative and support staff, and all CEO directorate staff to enable the provision of high-quality administrative support and information.

Who will be my key external relationships?

You will work closely with similar positions across the other children's charities, wider charity sector and within the Government.

This job could be closed earlier than the initial closing date due to the number of applications received.

Please note interviews will take place W/C 12th May due to availability of panel.

Working in the CEO Office team The application process

Safer Recruitment

As an organisation, we are committed to creating and fostering a culture that promotes safeguarding and the welfare of all children and adults at risk. Our safer recruitment practices support this by ensuring that there is a consistent and thorough process of obtaining, collating, analysing and evaluating information from and about candidates to ensure that all persons appointed are suitable to work with our children and adults.

Trauma Informed

At the NSPCC we are on a journey to becoming a trauma-informed organisation for the children, young people and families that we work with, as well as our staff and volunteers. To be trauma-informed is one of the guiding principles that shape and guide our 2021-2031 Strategy. This means understanding the nature of adversity, trauma, and resilience so that we can work towards reducing and preventing further harm and promoting recovery and healing. Coming to work at the NSPCC will provide the opportunity for you to join us in our commitment to becoming a trauma-informed organisation.
