Welsh Language Development Officer
Do you have a passion for the Welsh language and drive to support babies, children and families?
This is a unique opportunity for you to strengthen our established charity in meeting the needs of Welsh speakers. We need you to join us as we strive to offer the best possible support to all children in Wales.
The NSPCC is the UK's leading children's charity and we've been looking out for children for over 140 years. Our work as NSPCC Cymru is more important now than ever, and we want to provide everyone we work with in Wales the best experience both in Welsh and English. You can help us to play a pivotal role in helping to protect children and prevent abuse in Wales.
We are committed to strengthening our offer to Welsh speaking children and families. Through the implementation of our Cynnig Cymraeg we are targeting equality of service to all people in Wales. We understand that a significant proportion of people living in Wales will wish to engage with us through the Welsh language and are working to facilitate this where it is possible.
As our Welsh Language Development Officer you will champion the use of the Welsh language within the organisation and externally. Your core responsibilities will include:
Are you the candidate we are looking for?
We need someone who is a fluent Welsh speaker and a skilled Welsh writer, with good communication, organisation and project management skills, to help us continue to develop our Welsh Language Action Plan. You'll have to work together with colleague across the charity, as well as build important external relationships in Wales. If this sounds like you, and you're passionate about making a difference to the lives of children, young people and families in Wales, then we want to hear from you.
Join us and you'll become part of a team that cares about the work they do and the people they work with. You'll discover opportunities to grow, along with challenges and a shared purpose that'll bring the best out in you. And you'll get to find your own way to make a difference that means more, and that impacts millions of young lives.

As an organisation, we are committed to creating and fostering a culture that promotes safeguarding and the welfare of all children and adults at risk. Our safer recruitment practices support this by ensuring that there is a consistent and thorough process of obtaining, collating, analysing and evaluating information from and about candidates to ensure that all persons appointed are suitable to work with our children and adults.

At the NSPCC we are on a journey to becoming a trauma-informed organisation for the children, young people and families that we work with, as well as our staff and volunteers. To be trauma-informed is one of the guiding principles that shape and guide our 2021-2031 Strategy. This means understanding the nature of adversity, trauma, and resilience so that we can work towards reducing and preventing further harm and promoting recovery and healing. Coming to work at the NSPCC will provide the opportunity for you to join us in our commitment to becoming a trauma-informed organisation.
